The Otera-Fighter 1 Paradigm is a single seat, twin engine, light fighter starfighter manufactured by Sideways Collective Industries. It was the first design in the Otera starfighter line. Designed by SCI co-founder Bill Wilting himself, the F1 was popular amongst pilots in the Human military. It featured an efficient energy system, a simple design and considerably cheap costs for its time. Future tweaks and improvements upon this original design made the Otera family considered to be one of the most iconic starship lines in history. The Otera-F1 currently holds the record for the greatest number of starfighter sales over the course of a century.

Otera-F1A/B

The Otera-F1A was the first complete design to come out of Wilting's blueprint works. Armed with a single light Cirus GMAT Autocoil, developed by Yandavich Cirus from Vice Development, the Paradigm packed a relatively strong punch for a ship of its size. It also came prepared with two B/R-C2 hardpoints, allowing it to carry some extra ordnance for surface or structure attacks if needed. Alongside its effective offensive armament came a high number of countermeasures, with a total of 30 packets ready to be deployed in battle.

One year after the F1A's release, when sales of the starship began to increase exponentially, a slightly upgraded F1B model began production. This rendition of the Paradigm made minor changes to the technology software and hardware aboard the vehicle in response to consumer feedback received. Of note was the fixing of a hardware bug that caused the onboard navigation computer to repeatedly crash when flying in relative proximity to a star.

Otera-F1C

Released in 1778, the Otera-F1C upgraded the existing two hardpoints to B/R/M-C2 class, adding support for space launched missiles while also adding one more on both sides. This greatly increased the Paradigm's potency in space-to-space combat. However, the starfighter was not fitted with a radar, limiting its missile usage to that of infrared tracking. Due to the Kolban Alliance's limited missile options, the F1C was only ever equipped with the SLAM-3 and SLAM-4 missiles.

Otera-F1D/E/G

The Otera-F1D was released in 1787. It was the most significantly changed model of the Paradigm. Outer layers of armour were added to the external sections of the cockpit in order to help guarantee a safe ejection in the event of an emergency. The engines received a revision, increasing total thrust output to ensure this armour did not negatively affect the acceleration and manoeuvrability of the vehicle. A single B-C4 hardpoint was also added to the centreline of the fuselage. Cockpit controls were cleaned up, resulting in two multi-function displays rather than three as well as a slight reduction in the total number of control surfaces.

The Otera-F1E was released one year later and increased the total number of countermeasures to 90. After the F1F upgrade was cancelled close to release in 1793, the F1G's stabiliser upgrades replaced it, but only as a minor addition. All three models were commonly seen armed with the SLAM-6 infrared guided missile, which was released in the same year as the Otera-F1D.

Otera-F1K

The Otera-F1K was released in 1805 and was the Paradigm's final upgrade. The nose of the starfighter was retroactively fitted with a radar, giving it access to the SLAM-6R semi-active radar homing missile. However, many complained of it being far too late to do so, especially given that the Otera-F2 was already known to be in the works. All four wing hardpoints on the F1K were adjusted to become B/R/M-C3 standard while the centreline fuselage remained the same. This allowed it to carry a powerful combative armament of Unlike the Otera-B1 Sorcerer and its B1FM modernisation upgrade, the Paradigm was not returned to until 2172 with the release of the Otera-F1X Deiknunai for the 400th Otera line anniversary.
