The Rotunda Shell is an experimental multi-platform designed by Yun Gerranne for use in the Gerranne Procedure. Easily scalable based on the planet being operated on, it covers the majority of the surface. The first prototype of the Rotunda Shell, designated RS-X1 was successfully constructed in orbit around the planet Sling in 2107, and began its operation in 2114. However, in 2117, a chain reaction of system failures known as the Sling Rotunda Incident required the platform to be shut down and redesigned. A "number of substantial changes" were made to the blueprints and RS-X2 finished construction just four years later. This version completed its operation over the course of seven years from 2124 to 2131 with minimal issues and was decommissioned at the end of 2132.
