The Himms Mk2 Short Range Radio Receiver is a short range communications device named after its original patenter Ian Himms, intended for general use within planetary and starship environments. An improvement over the previous Mk1 design, the Mk2 Receiver featured a significantly longer clear transmission range, overall cleaner transmissions and better transmission security. Overseeing of the manufacturing of the Himms Mk2 during its lifetime has been passed from Lance Innovations to Bleak Enterprise and eventually to the Fox Corporation, which manages it to this day.
