Sidearms

Sidearms serve as alternative combative weapons used by combatants when fighting. Often referred to as "secondary weapons", sidearms are an optional piece of infantry equipment, but still see plenty of action in battle. They are often coilguns that are designed to be smaller and lighter than the majority of primary arms, but that retain their usefulness when lacking other options or in closed areas. As such, it is not uncommon to possess a sidearm for the purpose of self-defence, or even as a backup weapon. Advancing technology has also seen some primary weapons be miniaturised into secondary weapons while retaining their original effectiveness.
