The Generation 3e Fragmentation Grenade was designed by Lance Innovations in response to complaints of unreliable performance from the G2a.F and G2c.F grenades. To combat this, the effective radius was further increased, the fuse time was lowered to 4.5 seconds and the number of fragmental projectiles was doubled. The G3e.F remained one of the top fragmentation grenades in use throughout the next several decades, even remaining in production with the Fox Corporation to this day.
