The Mark 1 was the first tank designed and manufactured independently by Grenund Constructive. Constructed with very basic materials and technology, the Mark 1 was not as successful as the company had hoped. Even the Cindus military, the would-be primary buyer, opted to prioritise infantry equipment over the underperforming tank after seeing it in tests. In battle, the Mark 1 immediately showed its inferiority to other tanks of the times.
Despite its medium classification, the Mark 1's armour was relatively thin, providing as little as 14 millimetres of thickness in some parts. The tank's large size meant it still struggled to keep pace, with a maximum forward speed of 20 kilometres per hour and a reverse speed of only 5 km/h. For most, its only redeeming quality was the fast loading and hard hitting 35mm Mark 1 Cannon mounted in the turret. Unfortunately, this was still brought down by the turret's slow traversal, which was managed by a hand crank operated by the gunner.
