The Mansteid Farracchi is a civilian car designed and mass produced by Mansteid Auto beginning in 1985. It is one of the most purchased land vehicles in the galaxy by number of individual sales. There have been a number of models released to the public, as well as some exclusive models sold to specific individuals. Despite the original design being almost two centuries old and not having introduced any new technology since, the car remains popular with consumers to the present day.
The 1985 Mansteid Farracchi was the first Farracchi model released to the public and sold in already record numbers believed to have been a result of the famous "Fabo Farracchi" advertisement campaign. Over twenty thousand units were purchased in its first two months of being available, coming close to breaking the record of around thirty thousand. The car was originally available in black, white, silver, red and blue. This range was temporarily expanded to include orange and green, but these were removed four months later.
Mansteid Auto released a second model of the Farracchi alongside their more classic cars for the turn of the new millennium. It introduced various additional systems, such as a redesigned digital interface and improved atmospheric conditioning. Although it didn't sell nearly as many units as the original 1985 Farracchi, the 2000 model experienced a much more stable long-term rate of sales.
At the beginning of the 22nd century, a new Farracchi was released alongside a six seater variant. The new 2100 model came with a slightly altered shape allowing for the addition of optional reclining positions. Some safety concerns were raised over these new chair designs but consumers were reassured that the seats were relatively safe. Statistical models have shown that although Farracchi-related deaths have not increased by any considerable amount, the number related to the reclining seats have.
Since its original model, many exclusive Farracchi models have been privately purchased by individuals, including one deal of a "streamlined" Farracchi between Mansteid Auto and Matchik Technologies co-founder Gabriel Rettik. In 1990, a Farracchi was fitted with rocket propulsion engines and a full atmospheric seal by the company before being launched into space and piloted manually.
A number of Farracchis have been customised with various additions or changes over the years since its release. In 2003, the Grandusk military retrofitted a Farracchi with an active weapons system, mounting an otherwise unused MC3C Zircon on the roof of the car as part of a media campaign.
