The Space Launched Assault Missile - 1 was a basic rear-aspect infrared combat missile designed by the Fox Corporation for use in space during close range starship to starship combat. Released just after the Cosmian Wars ended, the SLAM-1's design team lacked proper funding to promote the the weapon to manufacturing stage due to the sudden lack of the need for space combat weapons. However, as conflicts began increasing in number again in smaller combat arenas, the SLAM-1 served as the basis for future missiles in the SLAM family, such as the SLAM-2.
