The Linc is a bipedal humanoid originating from the planet Inloreen in the Mala star system. They were the fourth race to begin space-faring and are naturally an independent race. However, due to the consequences of the Cosmian Wars, the Linc hold one of the smallest total populations out of any space-faring civilisation in the galaxy, only greater than the Myriads and Wythins, who rarely venture beyond their home system. Despite this, they serve as an important member of the Kolban Alliance, and as such receive a considerable amount of economic and material aid from the other members. This primarily comes from the Humans and the Xanfer, their two closest trade partners.
Physical attributes
One of the most unique races in terms of physical anatomy, the Linc are evolved for life underwater, on their home planet Inloreen. As such, many joints are wrapped by webbed appendages, including their hands, feet and neck. Another such adaptation is the addition of Trimethylamine Oxide (TMAO) to their body tissue, which helps to deal with high pressure resulting from deep-ocean activity. With these evolved traits, Linc are able to survive underwater at depths of up to 2,000 metres on planets with physical characteristics similar to Inloreen or Estra (namely air pressure and gravity). However, this does not mean they are incapable of surviving on land. Their adaptive bodies allow them to live out of the water without the need for intensive assistive technology.
Linc skin consists of two main layers - the main external tissue used for the protection of the body and an internal gelatinous layer, which helps to improve general performance underwater. Pigmentation (as well as the lack thereof) in these layers makes a pale blue and cyan colour.
Behaviour and culture
The Linc are frequently described as a traditions-inclined but kind race and are especially known for their intellectual prowess. The second race (after the Dottians, who are also remarked to have had a head-start) to construct a functioning warp drive and achieve interstellar travel, the Linc are regularly at the forefront of technological progress. Although not as biologically diverse of a civilisation as others, the Linc are still fully free-thinking, with their civil government funding several multiracial youth development courses.
Most Linc are not religious, as no widespread religions ever developed before their first contact with other civilisations. Many of their people are instead of the belief that following a singular religion stifles their outward creativity and free thought. This belief has led to a lack of cultural diversity as well, although no actual difference in mental diversity has actually occurred as compared to other, more religion-involved civilisations.
