A resource is a unique and usually artificial material with which modern technology can be crafted. There are various unique resources used by the intelligent races in the galaxy for this purpose, among others. The collection and use of resources are major components to survival in an unknown universe. This makes it very important for civilisations to allow time to focus on their stores of them.
