Aerolite is a rare metal alloy seemingly only found on the planet Windra in the Aeroth system. It is universally identified as a unique and valuable material due to its incredibly low average density of around 0.5 grams per cm^3. However, its primary interest is its relative strength. Despite mostly containing air, aerolite possesses more than three times the strength of common industry-standard steel. This makes it a highly sought after material, with even just a gram of it fetching hundreds of galactic tekks.
The existence of aerolite as a common resource in the Wythins' astral territory could hypothetically earn them a similar income to one of the more powerful Kolban Alliance civilisations, such as the Cindii. This is yet to happen though, as the majority of it is utilised in their civil engineering projects.
Aerolite is used for a wide range of applications, owing to the diversity of industries in which such a light but durable alloy is strived for. Some of these industries include starship, aircraft and armour manufacturing as well as in fire control systems. The material itself is generally mined and provided by the locally-run company Aerolite Mining Corps, before being refined and used by Aerotech, its sister corporation.
