The Sling Rotunda Incident was the catastrophic failure of a core piece of technology related to the carrying out of the Gerranne Procedure on the planet Sling by the Gerranne Rotunda Project organisation in 2117. Although the incident claimed no lives, it resulted in Sling's previously stable orbit gaining 0.09 eccentricity.

When questioned about the event, researchers and officials related to the Gerranne Procedure stated that an equipment malfunction set off a chain reaction amongst the rest of the systems. This resulted in a sudden release of kinetic energy. No further elaboration has been made, and the same officials made mention of the fact that any additional information is classified.

Once the planet had been stripped of the Rotunda Shell, visitors noticed a large crater on Sling's surface, spanning several kilometres in diameter and several hundred metres in depth. Sling is expected to return to a stable and less eccentric orbit in several hundred thousand years.
