Gerranne Procedure

The Gerranne Procedure (named after Human scientist and researcher Yun Gerranne) is a highly classified long-term program designed to transform planets into near-perfectly spherical celestial bodies, with an accepted margin of 0.02% of the planet's original average diameter. It was originally performed by the Gerranne Rotunda Project, a large collection of researchers and experts handpicked by the Human government including Gerranne herself. Much of the technology and information involved is unknown to the public and very little explanation as to why the Gerranne Procedure was pursued has been supplied by officials.

Operation

After several months of deliberation and organisation, the planet Sling in the system of Soluoka became the original target for the procedure to take place. However, a catastrophic failure of undisclosed nature occurred just after two months into the operation and prevented the completion of the procedure. A few years afterwards, the nearby planet of Fest became the new target and the procedure ultimately resulted in a "resounding success".

Remnant scraps from the massive devices used to both power and carry out the operations were left abandoned on Sling after the incident. These scraps are limited to shell fragments presenting little to no relevant information about Gerranne Procedure itself, but scavengers continue to salvage various pieces, primarily for the use and marketing of the strong structural compounds.

It is currently unknown if any further attempts have been made to carry out the Gerranne Procedure on other planets. Given the clouded nature of information related to it, experts believe that while the method is successful in achieving the intended transformation of planets, the expected potential financial or material gain, if any, was found to not come with it.
